Each year from kindergarten through 5th grade, students can complete Junior Wildlife Scientist activities to earn (2) NEW merit badges and receive a NEW level of certification following the sequence below:

Second Grade
Level 3: Entomologist (The Study of Insects)
After studying wildlife in first grade to become a JWS Zoologist, the second grade students will now focus on studying insects to become a JWN Entomologist.
To earn the Level 3: Entomologist certification, the students must take the JWS Pledge and earn the Nature's Biodiversity and Beneficial Pollinators badges.
For each badge, the student must complete at least three of the JWS Nature Notebook activities (a total of six activities for the year). The *REQUIRED and *Suggested activities for each badge are noted in the Table of Contents in the nature journal and teacher’s guide.
